Question: Will the Jerk-Ease stop my dog from pulling?
Answer: We invented the Jerk-Ease after our dog pulled hard on the leash, injuring a family member's shoulder. The idea wasn't to stop him from pulling, but to absorb the harmful effects of sudden and repetitive stress when he did pull. That said, quite a few customers have told us their dogs pulls less, or stops pulling altogether, once they become accustomed to the Jerk-Ease. This is udoubtedly because, when the Jerk-Ease begins to stretch, it signals to the dog that he/she is about to reach the end of the leash, and dogs don't like that sudden jerk any more than we do.
Question: How can I be sure I'm ordering the right size Jerk-Ease for my dog?
Answer: Our size recommendations are based on weight and will be accurate in most cases. Other factors that may influence correct sizing include your pup's breed and temperament. If you have questions about sizing, we encourage you to contact us and we will be happy to provide additional guidance.
Question: What If I buy the wrong size?
Answer: If you feel that your Jerk-Ease is too stiff, or provides too much cushioning, please contact us and we will be happy to ensure that you and your pup receive the best fit.
Question: is the Jerk-Ease bite-proof?
Answer: No elastic cord is bite-proof and any claims contradicting this are false. Every Jerk-Ease comes with a pamphlet that contains longevity tips, and among them is a caution about biting and tips for how to avoid this.
Question: How long will the Jerk-Ease last?
Answer: We use the finest bungee cord available (made in the USA) but over time, and with continual pulling and tugging. all elastic cord will begin to relax and eventually lose elasticity. How quickly that happens depends on a variety of factors including your dog's breed, weight, temperament, environmental conditions, and the frequency of use. We include a pamphlet with every Jerk-Ease that includes tips for longevity.
Question: What if my dog weighs over 110 pounds?
Answer: Depending on your dog's breed and temperament, you may find that the large size works great. If not, we have heard from a number of people that using two Jerk-Ease Leash Extensions in parallel (e.g. a large and a medium) creates a highly effective shock absorber.
